Spring Wine Festivals 2012

The Best Spring Wine Festivals in 2012

By , About.com Guide

Spring is an important season in the vineyard -- the fruit is starting to grow, which means that nature is starting to shape the 2012 vintage into what it will eventually become when it reaches your glass.  Meanwhile winemakers are starting to taste what they've put into barrels from last year, which makes this a great time to celebrate wine at a festival! Learn all about wine festivals here, and read on for picks of the best wine festivals of Spring, by month.

March 2012: Savor Somoma Wines, Last Call in Boston.

Head to Sonoma, California for the first barrel tastings from last year's vintage at Savor Sonoma, and take advantage of last call on the Boston Wine Festival -- this three-month long festival comes to a close this month.

April 2012: Pacific Northwest Wines in the Spotlight

It's the start of a visit-a-winery season, which gets kicked off in fine style in the Pacific Northwest. In Washington, Yakima Valley holds its barrel tasting, and in Oregon, sample the grapes of the Columbia Gorge.

May 2012: Las Vegas gets Uncorked and Paso Robles Sips in Style

This month, Las Vegas offers its signature food event Vegas Uncork'd -- which incorporates plenty of wine tasting, along with a chance to meet and mingle with master sommeliers and more of the culinary glitterati-- visit Paso Robles for a wine festival that's just about the polar opposite.
