Kulolo is a traditional Hawaiian dessert made from taro root, coconut milk and brown sugar. It's similar in texture to haupia, although nothing like it in taste. Like many dishes that involve taro, it can be an acquired taste. Kulolo isn't something that you'll find stocked in stores regularly -- it's made the traditional way, and only in small quantities -- so you should definitely snap it up when you find it. In Kauai, the Kukuiula grocery store (2827 Poipu Road, Koloa) carries it occasionally, so it's a good place to make inquiries.
