The Bordeauxthèque, a wine shop dedicated exclusively to wines of Bordeaux, opened in Galeries Lafayette Paris in May 2010. It's adjacent to the store's wine library, which stocks wine from all of France and the world. (The name "Bordeauxthèque" is a play on the French word for library,
bibliothèque.)
The store stocks some 12,000 bottles of Bordeaux, ranging in price from under 5 euro to 25,000 euro -- at the time of my visit, that very spendy bottle was a 1945 Chateau Mouton Rothschild, with a special label commemorating victory in World War II.
A visit is an education in Bordeaux wines in itself, as it shows the full range available from the region, from the wines it's most famous for, to smaller and lesser- known estates. The staff is also quite knowledgeable, but speaking French is a definite plus.
Brush up on French wine regions, including Bordeaux.
