If you can only visit one place in Honolulu's Chinatown, make it Maunakea Market. This indoor market quickly gives you a feel for a little of everything in Chinatown, from a food court serving up Chinese, Filipino, and local comfort food -- to be enjoyed at communal and often packed lunch tables -- to a market where you can buy everything from fish so fresh they're still swimming, to produce that looks quite exotic to the non-Hawaiian eye. While this market is plenty popular with tourists, there are still many locals that hang out here.

  • Address: 1120 Maunakea Street, with another entrance on Hotel Street.
