It's a long flight to South Africa, so might as well start your exploration of the country's excellent wineries very soon after you're wheels up.
South Africa Airways recently announced its 2013 in-flight wine options, selected each year by a judging panel of in-country and international wine experts. From 1,030 South African wines, the panel selected Stellenrust Chenin Blanc 2012 , Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Anura Brut Chardonnay/Pinot Noir 2009 and KWV Tawny Port N/V.
N.B.: Anura also received an award from the panel for being the largest wine provider to the airline, and the red wine maker at KWV was on the judging panel.
Looking for another far-flung wine destination? Consider Tasmania. (No, it's not in Africa.)
